Online Lessons Setup
This short guide shows how to setup your devices for maximum learning efficiency.

1. Make sure you have any sheet music/material required for the lesson printed, as well as a pencil on your piano rack.

You will recieve an email from us with all the necessary sheets before your lesson.

You DO NOT NEED to prepare/study material until your teacher instruct you how to during lesson.

2. Your device needs to access Zoom, and have a working camera AND microphone, for example: a smartphone.

To achieve effective guidance, the teacher needs to see your movements and posture (upper body primarily and lower body sporadically for pedal work, correct sitting etc.)

3. HOW TO SET UP YOUR DEVICE

Your device should be placed roughly level with your shoulders while sitting, and about 1m away from your piano stool.
Place your camera to your side (Ideally the right side, but left also works).

While checking your camera view make sure you can see:
- Full upper body profile, including your hands on the keyboard (seeing exact finger placement is NOT NEEDED)

- Some margin of space behind your back.

Try to prepare equipment which is fairly flexible and easy to adjust or tilt (for example, invest in a small tripod for your phone/tablet, as camera adjustment may need to be changed during advanced fingering/pedal work.

4. Make sure you have a comfortable space and good lighting where your piano is. You should have unrestricted freedom of movement. Make sure you also have enough space for your video call device, so it won't disturb your comfort during online lessons.

5. Start a meeting on Zoom to double check everything works correctly. Try out your microphone to ensure it can catch your voice AND your piano. IMPORTANT: Turn on: "Original Sound For Musicians", and turn off mute.

6. Make sure your email inbox is not full, so you can recieve lesson materials/Zoom link.

7. Enjoy! Every step on this list is to make sure students receive a fun and engaging learning experience.

From this point onwards, the only thing to do is have fun by learning and practicing!
