You can supply your measurements when you order, or drop in to The Nocturne to book an in-person measuring appointment.

You can choose your fabric and lining from our core range for the fastest turnaround time, or you can consult with Charlotte for limited edition fabric colours and patterns. You will recieve a picture of your fabric against its best fitting lining shades if applicable. Only once you confirm will fabric/lining be ordered and your creation will commence!

 

Charlotte Josephine drafts your pattern by hand from your measurements, using authentic Edwardian sources and references; she stitches the main body of the garment by hand with cotton thread and historically accurate interlining materials for structuring and a clean finish, and closes the main seams with a hand-turned Edwardian sewing machine for strength; and finishes the garment with silk thread hand-felled linings and detailing including buttonholes and closures as would have been done in the 1890s, making this as close to a historically accurate garment as modernly possible.

 

All our garments are made with 100% natural, breathable and high-quality materials such as wool, silk, linen and cotton, making them suitable for layering over the many elements of a full historical outfit or for resisting any modern weather-related challenges with style and grace!They are also designed to last you a lifetime, with every seam reinforced exceptionally to withstand modern washing machines. Just in case you don't have a maid to do it for you.
